The Flexible Benefit Plan for UCC Ministries, commonly called the Flexible Spending Account or FSA, allows eligible clergy and lay employees to set aside a portion of their earnings before federal income and FICA taxes are withheld. These funds can be used for qualifying health care and dependent care expenses.

PBUCC partners with HealthEquity for FSA administration. Participants receive a debit card for eligible medical-account transactions and may also submit medical or dependent-care claims through the HealthEquity website or EZ Receipts app.

Eligible Expenses May Include

  • Plan copayments
  • Dental expenses
  • Chiropractic services
  • Medically prescribed weight-loss programs
  • Acupuncture
  • Certain eligible over-the-counter medications
  • Smoking cessation programs
  • Qualifying child care
  • Nursery school or day camp
  • Care for a qualifying spouse or dependent
  • Other eligible medical or dependent-care expenses

Annual Re-enrollment Required

Employees who want to participate in the Flexible Spending Plan must make a new election each year. FSA elections do not automatically carry forward.
