Phishing is a type of fraud where the perpetrator sends out legitimate-looking e-mails in an attempt to gather personal and/or financial information from recipients. Typically, the messages appear to be from trusted and often well-known websites, such as Microsoft, eBay, Best Buy, Yahoo, USPS, and various banks and airlines. The perpetrators create e-mails that look very official, often including copies of company logos and familiar slogans. The hope is that individuals who receive the e-mail will be fooled into replying or clicking on links that are not what they seem. The best way to deal with an e-mail suspected of being fake is to delete it!
