The Pension Boards provides a tool allowing you to increase and decrease the text size on our web pages; however many sites do not. How do you protect my personal information on www.pbucc.org?

PBUCC uses 128-bit encryption (SSL 3.0) to protect your personal information on www.pbucc.org. This technology is among the strongest security available on the web today, providing a safe channel for information to pass between your computer and our systems.

You can tell a page is secure when:

  • The address begins with https:// instead of http://. The "s" means "secured."
  • A small padlock icon displays in the lower right corner of your browser.

Your personal information is never displayed or collected on www.pbucc.org without robust security measures. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Is it safe to enter my Social Security number on www.pbucc.org?

Yes.

We use 128-bit encryption (SSL 3.0) on our entire site to protect your privacy. It is impossible for others to intercept or tamper with the information you enter on any page within the www.pbucc.org web site.

Note: Please do not include your Social Security number if you send us an e-mail by clicking a link to a Pension Boards e-mail address. Sending e-mail this way uses your regular e-mail account, and secure communication cannot be guaranteed. If you need to e-mail us your Social Security number or any other private information, please use the secure Contact Us page.

Does PBUCC ask for sensitive information over e-mail?

No.

PBUCC will never send you e-mail asking for sensitive information (such as your full Social Security number, health information protected by HIPAA, financial or salary information). If we need to collect information from you, we will always contact you by phone or in writing.

Beware of identity thieves who send fraudulent e-mails to trick you into disclosing personal or financial information. Criminals go to great lengths to create phony e-mails that appear to come from legitimate sources. You can protect yourself from this form of identity theft. Know that the Pension Boards will never send you an e-mail that:

  • Requests your full Social Security number, your www.pbucc.org password or any other user names or passwords;
  • Threatens to suspend or cancel your benefits if you do not provide your personal information;
  • Includes a link directing you to an unfamiliar log-in page.

If you receive suspicious e-mail that claims to be from the Pension Boards, please contact us to report it immediately. Do not reply to, or click any links provided in the suspicious e-mail.

Do I need to log out when I'm finished using www.pbucc.org?

It's smart to get into the habit of logging out when you are finished using www.pbucc.org or any other web site to which you've logged in. Logging out protects your personal information in the event someone else uses the computer immediately after you.

Does PBUCC sell my personal information?

No.

We take your privacy seriously and do not sell your personal information. We share information with our selected vendors only to the extend required for them to help administer benefits under the Plans administered by the Pension Boards. Since 1914, The Pension Boards-United Church of Christ, Inc. (PBUCC) has been a partner in ministry with those who serve the United Church of Christ. PBUCC offers comprehensive employee benefits programs for active and retired UCC clergy and lay employees and their eligible dependents, providing the highest standards of service, access and options. PBUCC assists those who serve the church achieve health and economic security through:
  • The Lifetime Retirement Income Plan – a professionally-managed 403(b) pension plan with eight investment fund options for members in their active years of employment; in retirement, members can annuitize all monies in their accumulation accounts or invest Tax-Sheltered Annuity contributions, rollovers and up to 20% of employer contributions in PBUCC investment funds.
  • The UCC Medical and Dental Benefits Plan – comprehensive medical coverage including wellness and preventive care, pharmacy and mental health benefits, and optional dental and vision benefits.
  • The UCC Life Insurance and Disability Income Benefit Plan – provides financial peace of mind to survivors in the event of a participant's death, as well short- and long-term disability income benefits.
  • The Flexible Benefit Plan for UCC Ministries – a tax-advantaged means of setting aside money, through salary reduction agreement, for anticipated medical and dependent care expenses.
  • Long-Term Care Insurance – available to UCC employees at favorable group rates and with relaxed health screening through LTC Partners.
  • The United Church Board for Ministerial Assistance – a subsidiary corporation affiliated with PBUCC that provides annual visitation, pension supplementation, health premium supplementation and Christmas gift checks to lower-income retired clergy and lay employees, as well as emergency assistance to active and retired employees facing unforeseen financial crisis; sponsor of the Next Generation Leadership Initiative: Target 2030, which assists UCC clergy in their 20s and 30s in developing transformational leadership skills.
