April 7 Update from the Pension Boards

April 7, 2020

Dear Friends,

We continue to pray that these messages find you and your loved ones healthy and safe.

As the Pension Boards enters its fourth week of working remotely, we continue to see the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic throughout the country. We cannot say for certain how long our physical office space will remain closed but be assured that staff is continuing to work efficiently to meet your needs.

Please look for these weekly emails, and visit the Pension Boards’ COVID-19 News and Information web page for the latest updates concerning your benefits and other resources available to you during this time. We encourage you to contact us at 1.800.642.6543 if you have any questions or need assistance.

As we prepare for the Annual Meeting of Members next month – which, in light of our current situation, will be held as a virtual meeting – it is important that you share your voice by voting for your proxy representative and Trustee nominees. We encourage you to take advantage of the online voting portal to cast your vote:https://vote.associationvoting.com/pbucc/. Your vote will be recorded and your voice will be heard. (Please note: You will need your seven-digit Pension Boards Member ID number in order to vote online.)

Thank you for your ministry, and for your trust in us.

Wishing you peace and good health,

Brian R. Bodager

  • Member in Discernment for at least a year.

If you meet the eligibility criteria described above, please contact your Conference staff, who will then reach out to Rev. Krista Betz, the Director of Ministerial Assistance, to begin the process. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) was signed into law and enacted on March 27, 2020. The CARES Act is the third of three stimulus bills to address the growing economic distress being caused by COVID-19, particularly on small businesses. There is the potential for more stimulus bills to be passed in the coming months as Congress discusses what to do as the distress deepens. Specific to pastors, ministerial employees, and the wider church community, the CARES Act makes accommodations for religious groups that past economic stimulus actions did not include.
